TZ50J 5F7 restoration project

Postby amigossa » Fri Jan 12, 2018 8:20 pm

Hi Guys.
Just hit my first problem when stripping down my 5F7 transmission. The 5th. gear wheel (part 5f7 17251) has a lump missing. Any ideas where I might get a replacement? Also to broaden the search were the same transmission parts used on later models? I have tried Denis Trollope and also looked at Fondseca in UK but doesn't look too promising. If anyone has this part to sell would also be interested.

Pretty sure I have one available; will check when I get home from work.

I think transmission components right up to the last reverse cylinder 'A' (1990), were interchangeable.

Then again, looks like I do have a "new" one, meaning out of package and has been installed on the countershaft but not put into service. I count 24 teeth.

Hi. Have checked and the one I have has 26 teeth. Does the used one have 26 teeth?

I haven't seen an optional 5th gear so they should all be 26t.

Anyone know the difference between a 5F7-17251-00 and a 5F7-17251-01?

TZ250H through to L only had optional gears from 1st to 3rd.

I was looking at the wrong gear! Have clarified with amigossa.
